யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் கேளிர் – One Home, One Family

யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் கேளிர்
தீதும் நன்றும் பிறர்தர வாரா
நோதலும் தணிதலும் அவற்றோ ரன்ன
சாதலும் புதுவது அன்றே, வாழ்தல்
இனிதென மகிழ்ந்தன்றும் இலமே முனிவின்
இன்னா தென்றலும் இலமே, மின்னொடு
வானம் தண்துளி தலைஇ யானாது
கல் பொருது மிரங்கு மல்லல் பேரியாற்று
நீர்வழிப் படூஉம் புணைபோல் ஆருயிர்
முறை வழிப் படூஉம் என்பது திறவோர்
காட்சியில் தெளிந்தனம் ஆகலின், மாட்சியின்
பெரியோரை வியத்தலும் இலமே,
சிறியோரை இகழ்தல் அதனினும் இலமே. (புறம்: 192)

What it means?

யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் கேளிர்
Every place is my home town, and everyone is my relative. We are one!

தீதும் நன்றும் பிறர்தர வாரா
Both good and bad things (to you) are not from (because of) others. We are responsible for our actions!

நோதலும் தணிதலும் அவற்றோ ரன்ன
Similarly, we are responsible for both the pain and relief how they feel. It’s how we perceive it!

சாதலும் புதுவது அன்றே, வாழ்தல்
Neither death is new to us, nor do our bosoms thrill. So be our Self in this life!

இனிதென மகிழ்ந்தன்றும் இலமே முனிவின் இன்னா தென்றலும் இலமே
Neither be happy that the life is pleasant nor be an ascetic saying that life is suffering. Maintain the balance and treat all as same!

மின்னொடு வானம் தண்துளி தலைஇ யானாது
கல் பொருது மிரங்கு மல்லல் பேரியாற்று
நீர்வழிப் படூஉம் புணைபோல் ஆருயிர்
முறை வழிப் படூஉம் என்பது திறவோர்
காட்சியில் தெளிந்தனம்
As the sky with lightning pours rain drops becoming flood water flowing through rocks and stones towards the lowlands is the path of our life boat. After seeing and realized this, the wise say that the life flows with rhythm and order as per the laws of nature. There is no difference at all!

ஆகலின், மாட்சியின் பெரியோரை வியத்தலும் இலமே,
சிறியோரை இகழ்தல் அதனினும் இலமே.
So, in this life we should neither be awed by great people (intelligence, power, wealth, birth, skills…) nor mistreat (mock/belittle) people who are weaker than us. Treat all equally with respect!

Summary

We are one family with one home. We are responsible for what we face in life and how we perceive it. Don’t fall into birth-death cycle, realize your Self in this life. Have balanced approach to life treating happy and sad, pleasure and pain, ups and downs equally. All life follows the laws of nature, realize it and treat all equally like our Self! 🙂
