inner solitude…

Spirituality is not to be learned by flight from the world, or by running away from things, or by turning solitary and going apart from the world. Rather, we must learn an inner solitude wherever or with whomsoever we may be. We must learn to penetrate things and find God there…

  1. I love this. I found myself in just this way. I intended to go to Tibet and become a Buddhist nun. My vision was washing dishes and washing the floors while in a meditation practice. Life had other plans, and actually told me so. Life is funny that way. Thank you for this. It’s beautifully said here. The thing I read that really turned me around was (I don’t remember the source) a piece that said it is easy to go atop a mountain and become spiritual, but it is more difficult to stay in the midst of the world — people around you and interaction with daily life — and find peace within. It is one of the things that had me remain in the midst of my life and not walk away to the mountain top. 🙂
