Very good question Ian! You are right, only information can be transmitted. My humble thought is “Gaining of Information is Knowledge, Application of Knowledge is Intelligence”.
Knowledge is a TOOL and may be applied intelligently or foolishly but intelligence is an acquired QUALITY – the quality of experience wisely assessed.

My apologies, Ganesh, that is not quite correct: intelligence is an INNATE quality blocked in many by layers of inculcation and/or earthly experiences. So, as enlightenment progresses, intelligence moves closer to the surface – becomes less subconscious!
